Please share anything else about your experience My oldest was also accepted to Independence Charter School, and it was a difficult choice. There were two things that really influenced my choice. First, I tried to figure out which learning environment would best fit my son’s personality and learning style. Friends Select seemed to offer more focus on socialization and the possibility of more individualized attention. The second big factor for our family was the level of financial aid available to us.  After my son started attending, I realized that I was very grateful for some elements I hadn’t considered: plenty of opportunities for movement and activity (recess, PE, and good space for both), and emphasis on in-class learning rather than homework in early grades.
