I know it is that time of year when parents of upcoming fall kindergarteners are stressing hard about getting their lottery results to charters and transfers. Last year at this time, I was making lots of phone calls to check in, checking my mail in anticipation, and pretty much stressing out over the whole thing,

I wanted to write a note to say that those of you in the Bache catchment and extended catchment have a very good option right here and that may put your mind at ease some. We did not get into any of our transfers or charters last year, decided moving and private schools were not options for us, and took a gamble on Bache for kindergarten. That gamble has paid off big time. I can’t imagine Asher having a better kindergarten experience than the one he is having at Bache. Small class sizes, excellent teacher and he is thriving academically and socially.

Positive things are happening at Bache. It is on its way to being one of the best elementary schools in this city. It boasts steadily increasing test scores rivaling Greenfield, smallest class sizes in the city, and one of the city’s finest teaching staff The entire staff believes in the potential of this school and is working so hard to making it the absolute best it can be. The walls have been painted cheerful, welcoming colors, the courtyards lovingly landscaped, and the entire appearance of the school goes along with this can-do-attitude.

It has been an honor to be a part of the changes taking place at this school. Helping out in the classroom and volunteering at community paint days has really given me something to believe in and a way to help a small patch of this city that I love.

Please come to the open houses in March and hear what those of us who took a chance on the school are saying.
