October is that time of year. Schools are settling into their routines and have begun to turn some of their attention to host open houses. Open houses are a great chance to see school facilities, meet teachers and administrators, and observe classes in session. I highly recommend visiting a school before you consider sending your child. In my opinion, ideally you would visit during the school day to see teachers in action and get an overall feel for the school, but there are advantages to evening open houses as well–more opportunity to talk to teachers/parents/administrators one on one without interruption.
