Superintendent Ackerman-Urban School District MVP? It seems like wherever I turn, there is another story about Philadelphia School District Superintendent Arlene Ackerman doing something bad. Undermining her team, being undermined by her team, mishandling the school violence problem, her huge salary, or just the general malaise I hear on message boards--all of it paints a very negative picture. Yet in the midst of all of that, she goes and wins an award as the top urban school leader in the U.S.
